GEISBERG BERLIN 2020 — The listed post and telegraph office in the Schöneberg district, built in 1925, has been converted into a residential building. New components have been added, resulting in a coherent complex, an ensemble that fulfils a meaningful urban development function. Overall: The new embraces the old. The new buildings adopt the structural elements of the existing edifice, the grandeur of which is carried forth. The substance of the old, brick-clad building, with its modernist design language and expressionistic decor, has been carefully preserved. Special attention was paid to the façade, the staircases, the entrance area, and the former service hall, which is the heart of the building. Like the two courtyards, it is a place of meeting and communication for the residents.
