GEISBERG BERLIN 2020 — The project provides for the programmatic conversion of the listed post office and telegraph office, built in 1925, into a residential building. In connection with additional new building elements, a coherent complex is created which fulfils an urban function as an ensemble. The new buildings take over the structural elements and material qualities of the old building. The division of the facades in size and structure follows the logic of the post office. Thus the old building is confirmed and strengthened, the new a part of the whole. The aim is not to juxtapose "old and new", but to find a balanced relationship between parts of the building that belong together. The target is to achieve certification in gold for sustainable building.
