mumok - Museum of Modern Art Vienna MUMOK - MUSEUM OF MODERN ART VIENNA 2001 — A compact, dark stone block made of basalt lava, the top side is curved, its sharp edges rounding towards the bottom. Except for a number of scattered light slots, the façade is closed off, the entrance a 2.2-metre-high and 6.2-metre-long incision that extends across the entire width of the hall behind. This narrow hall divides the block on the inside, creating an air space that is 41 metres high, 30 metres long, and clad on both sides with basalt lava.
