Una casa come noi. A house like us.
Two artists are building a house for themselves, painters Kirsten Lampert and Matthias Köster:
Two elongated wings, their backs to the surrounding buildings. One for living, the other for two art studios. Large windowpanes go back and forth, in the middle a long stripe of lawn with palm trees, six fruit trees, and a small fountain.
The rooms are all more than five meters high, right up to the roof. Lots of space for art. Everything is running free inside, only parts of it reaching through to the outside.
Art like breathing air, all rooms are supercharged with it. The house is one big painting. A small model in the middle, a bouquet of brushes, screws, shells, etc. on the rings that Köster makes. Cast in silver, so heavy that the ring rarely stays on a finger, instead resting on one of these glass pieces that could otherwise be assembled into room-filling chandeliers. Seventeen rings for friends and collectors—the round table of the home. Lampert captures the ingredients that infuse this home with atmosphere in large paintings. Travel mementos, historic references, found objects, and everyday stuff is mixed and shaken into an airy elixir.
