ASAKO TOKITSU // Incidence Inside — Asako Tokitsu is a Japanese artist. Her trademark is fine, monochrome linear structures staged within architectural spaces. Most of the time, she draws directly onto walls, ceilings, floors, and windows.
At home in Berlin and Yokohama, Tokitsu travels a sweeping arc through two worlds. Her abstract minimalism is rooted in Japanese traditions, while the interpretation, even alienation of built space through anamorphosis - the transformation of perspective - originates from a Western viewpoint. This crossing of borders allows visual contexts to unfold, opening a wholly new perspective of the architecture.
Asako Tokitsu has realised both temporary and permanent works internationally in museums, public spaces, corporate headquarters, and private homes.
