ALEXANDER TOWER BERLIN — As the first high-rise the "Alexander - Berlins Capital Tower" will mark the start of the development of Alexanderplatz. In surroundings in a state of change extremely high demands are made on design autonomy. The starting point for the design is a reference to the traditions of classic modernism, which shaped the character of Alexanderplatz in the form of Martin Wagner’s urban planning and the buildings by Peter Behrens. The Russian origins of the development strengthen the idea of an encounter at this location between two cultural worlds that, in the era of modernism, belonged to the avant-garde: German Rationalism and Russian Constructivism.
