HIGH-RISE AT HAFENSPITZE, ZOLLHAFEN MAINZ 2022 – A new city neighbourhood is being constructed on the former customs port in Mainz that creates an urban blend of living, working, and leisure activities. A 12-story timber hybrid office building prominently situated on Rotterdam Platz creates a landmark at the tip of the harbour.

The façade of the building shell is made of aluminium profile elements with a supporting structure positioned at two projecting angles and with integrated photovoltaic panels. The special uses housed on the ground floor and the fifth upper story are legible in the façade. This gives the building an overriding scale and creates an urban reference to the surroundings. The foyer and its adjoining café open around a corner to the square. The staff lounge and a communal terrace offer a panoramic view of the port area and the Rhine River.
