URBANE MITTE SÜD AT GLEISDREIECK BERLIN // 3rd Prize - 24.08.2026

The design concept for Urbane Mitte Süd takes the urban development masterplan as the foundation of its further development of Urbane Mitte at Gleisdreieck. A robust base of fired brick supports two conical hotel buildings with shimmering ceramic façades. The base is conceived as a continuous urban structure, accommodating hotel lobbies, retail outlets, restaurants, and sports facilities. The larger hotel is crowned by a sky lobby, while the micro-hotel organises its rooms around a central atrium. Both buildings are designed as timber-hybrid structures.
