WINNING THE CITY // Depot Talks on tour - 15.07.2025

RothNEUsiedl Vienna Model Climate District – WINNING THE CITY

DEPOT TALKS on tour // O&O Depot in cooperation with Wasmuth Publishing
    Tuesday, 15 July 2025, 6–9 p.m.,
    Papierhalle Wasmuth Verlag, Axel-Springer-Strasse 43, Berlin-Kreuzberg

The event, O&O Baukunst’s 15th Depot Talk, is organised together with Wasmuth Verlag and focuses on six core topics:
Urban planning and architecture, landscape and open space, energy and climate protection, mobility and transport, and rainwater management and circular construction.

With lectures and presentations by O&O Baukunst & Team / City of Vienna:
Markus Penell (O&O Baukunst), Tancredi Capatti (capattistaubach urbane landschaften), Lukas Lang (City of Vienna), Caroline Braus (Concular), Dr. Werner Rosinak (Rosinak & Partner), Moritz Mütschele (Transsolar) and Dr. Matthias Pallasch (Ingenieurgesellschaft Sieker). Moderated by Rudolf Spindler (Wasmuth Publishing).

In the coming decade, a new model district will be built in Vienna-RothNEUsiedl. Sitatuated on around 125 hectares, it will provide housing for more than 21,000 people and 8,000 jobs. The aim is to create a lively, urban, and compact neighbourhood that has a high degree of green and open space alongside affordable housing and also acts as a pioneer for protecting the climate and adapting to climate change. The idea of this new city is also the idea of a changing urban society, the “climate” of which is needed as the foundation for urban renewal. The change in values in recent years in the south of Vienna is bringing with it proof that a new exemplary city area can be even better than a city unbuilt. And, of course, better than a conventionally built city.
