MULTI-GENERATIONAL APARTMENTS WarnowQuartier Rostock // 1st Prize - 21.06.2024

The WarnowQuartier is a new urban district being built in Rostock. The multi-generational residences and a theatre workshop at the north entrance of the district are only the first buildings of the framework of what will be a community square.

The award-winning design by O&O Baukunst and Freiraumplanung Wolf is “a true model project that makes it possible for different generations to come together - multi-generational living in the truest sense of the word,” writes the jury.

“The design’s most special feature is its staggered terracing on the courtyard side of the building. The outdoor spaces arranged here correlate to the rooms of the care area and are just part of a differentiated range of outdoor spaces. This enables sightlines and varied connections that create an attractive quality of stay and support a vibrant neighbourhood. Additionally, diverse views of the adjacent landscape are possible from the various terrace levels.”
