30 YEARS OF SLUB DRESDEN // Anniversary and Exhibition - 27.08.2026
Today, the Saxon State and University Library Dresden opens the exhibition “SPACE. Architectures of Knowledge” while also celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The exhibition tells the spatial history of the SLUB based on its historical locations and commemorates the merger of the Saxon State Library and the University Library of TU Dresden in 1996. That was the same year that O&O Baukunst won the Europe-wide competition for its new home, which was then realised from 1998 to 2002. This chapter of the SLUB’s history is presented in the exhibition with a computer simulation of the large reading room, construction drawings, models, and photographs, along with a large-format chalk drawing by Manfred Ortner.
We congratulate the SLUB on its special anniversary and are delighted to continue contributing to the history of the institution in Dresden! The exhibition can be seen at the SLUB Book Museum until January 16, 2027.
