HOFGARTENHAUS BERLIN // Completion - 30.08.2024
In the late nineteenth century, the Riehmers-Hofgarten in Berlin-Kreuzberg provided a spacious counterpart to the densely planned inner courtyards of the time. Master bricklayer Walter Riehmer made his dream of quiet living in the big city come true, building 18 apartment buildings set around a park-like courtyard on the property between Yorkstrasse and Hagelbergerstrasse. The new courtyard garden house completes the quarter, its surrounding loggias and balconies inspired by the concept of living in harmony with nature. The façades are clad in red water-struck bricks, reflecting the material of the neighbouring Bonifatius church buildings.
