OPENING // SLUB Audiovisual Media Collection - 30.07.2024
The newly designed media area in the Saxon State Library – State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) was officially opened today. With a modern lounge, the SLUB is making its audiovisual holdings – both analogue and digital – more easily accessible.
The plans are by O&O Baukunst, which also designed the Saxon State Library – State and University Library, constructed from 1998 to 2002. After more than 20 years of intensive use, the SLUB is becoming a site of teaching, learning, and research that welcomes the growing importance of collaborative forms of work. A new library was integrated into the concept, creating an interactive learning and experience space for music and audiovisual media.
The SLUB maintains more than 200,000 audiovisual media in its collections, including “significant cultural heritage with great relevance for research”. This treasure is now usable in the formats of today, says General Director Karin Stump.
