REGENSBURG ARCHITECTURE PRIZE 2024 // KAROLINENHOF Recognition Award - 06.11.2024

At the Regensburg Architecture Prize ceremony, our KAROLINENHOF apartment building received a special mention for being a successful example of the building culture of Regensburg.

The elongated residential building is located in the Dörnberg district, not far from the Regensburg old town. Three-hundred-metres long, it stretches alongside the train tracks like a landscape, unfurling into a large shape that plays a game of staggered volumes. The project was completed in 2022.

“The extremely long soundproofed complex along the railway line is skilfully structured and rhythmically ordered. The sculptural design of the building and the façade relief, in combination with the high-quality building materials, never slides into a sense of monotony or looking like the back side. This is amplified by the fact that loggias have been included both towards the quiet north side and the noisy south side. Combined with the spacious outdoor areas, the result is an urban atmosphere rarely found in new development areas. Overall, the design approaches the large-scale housing project with calm confidence.”
